Product Description

Zenit UNIQA ZUG-GR Grinder Pump

The Zenit UNIQA ZUG-GR Grinder Pump is a heavy-duty electric submersible pump for soiled wastewater containing fibres, filaments, organic waste and destructible solids. Its grinding system uses a rotary triangular steel knife to reduce troublesome material before discharge.

Moreover, the grinder hydraulics combine a cast-iron multi-channel open impeller with a high-head two-pole motor. Consequently, the pump supports professional wastewater lifting where fibrous debris could block conventional pump hydraulics.

ZUG-GR Grinder Pump Design

The Zenit UNIQA ZUG-GR Grinder Pump uses a cast-iron multi-channel open impeller. In addition, a rotating triangular steel knife works against the cutting plate to grind compatible solids and fibres.

As a result, the grinder system reduces particle size before wastewater enters the discharge line. However, it cannot process stones, metal pieces or other non-destructible objects. Therefore, operators should prevent unsuitable debris from entering the sump.

Key Features and Benefits

The Zenit ZUG-GR range provides:

  • Cast-iron multi-channel open impeller
  • Rotary triangular steel grinding knife
  • Suitability for fibres and filaments
  • Heavy-duty professional construction
  • 7.5–11 kW power range at 50 Hz
  • Maximum 50 Hz flow up to 9.0 l/s
  • Maximum 50 Hz head up to 63.5 m
  • 11 kW configuration at 60 Hz
  • Maximum 60 Hz flow up to 6.4 l/s
  • Maximum 60 Hz head up to 78 m
  • Two-pole, three-phase motor
  • DN50 or G2-inch discharge options
  • Premium IE3 motor design
  • WET and DRY installation versions
  • Dual silicon-carbide mechanical seals
  • Hazardous-area versions available

Together, these features make the Zenit UNIQA ZUG-GR Grinder Pump suitable for demanding sewage and wastewater systems.

UNIQA Grinder Pump Performance

At 50 Hz, the ZUG-GR grinder pump range uses 7.5 to 11 kW two-pole motors. Moreover, selected models provide flow rates up to 9.0 l/s and heads up to 63.5 metres.

At 60 Hz, Zenit lists an 11 kW two-pole configuration. Meanwhile, maximum series performance reaches 6.4 l/s and 78 metres of head.

However, these figures represent separate maximum limits. Therefore, engineers should select each pump from its model-specific hydraulic performance curve.

Rotary-Knife Grinder Hydraulics

The UNIQA grinder submersible pump uses a rotary three-blade knife to break down compatible organic waste, processing residue, fibres and filaments.

Consequently, the grinding system can reduce blockage risk in smaller discharge pipelines. Moreover, its high-head hydraulics help move wastewater through rising mains and pressure sewer systems.

Nevertheless, engineers should confirm solids type, fibre load, density, temperature and chemical composition before selecting the pump.

IE3 Motor for Efficient Operation

Zenit designs the UNIQA motor to target Premium IE3 efficiency according to EN 60034-30. Consequently, the Zenit UNIQA ZUG-GR Grinder Pump combines high-head performance with controlled energy consumption.

In addition, the motor supports prolonged operation and frequent starts. Therefore, the pump can suit wastewater stations with irregular inflow and repeated duty cycles.

WET and DRY Installation Versions

The WET version operates while submerged inside the wastewater sump. Alternatively, the DRY version can operate while partially submerged or installed inside a dry chamber.

The UNIQA DRY grinder pump uses an internal closed cooling circuit. Consequently, it requires no external cooling-water supply during normal operation.

Moreover, the cooling system supports continuous-duty operation in suitable dry or partially submerged installations.

Mechanical Seals and Monitoring

The Zenit ZUG-GR sewage pump uses two silicon-carbide mechanical seals inside an oil chamber. Furthermore, an oil lifter maintains lubrication around the upper seal, while a moisture probe monitors the seal chamber.

Consequently, operators can identify potential seal leakage early and schedule maintenance before a major pump failure occurs.

Zenit ZUG-GR Applications in India

The Zenit UNIQA ZUG-GR Grinder Pump may support wastewater applications across India such as:

  • Industrial wastewater treatment
  • Municipal sewage lifting
  • Wastewater containing fibres and filaments
  • Organic-waste transfer
  • Processing-residue pumping
  • Commercial sewage stations
  • Food-processing wastewater
  • Selected livestock wastewater
  • Pressure sewer systems
  • Heavy-duty drainage applications

Moreover, the high-head grinder design can support installations where wastewater must travel through rising mains or smaller pressure pipelines.

However, agricultural and slurry duties require complete solids and chemical evaluation before selection.

Hazardous-Area Configurations

Zenit offers ATEX and IECEx-certified UNIQA configurations for selected potentially explosive atmospheres.

However, certification depends on the exact pump version. Therefore, engineers should verify the nameplate, hazardous-area classification and certificates for the selected ZUG-GR model before installation.

Selecting the Correct Zenit Grinder Pump

Correct selection depends on:

  • Required flow and total head
  • Fibre content
  • Solids type and concentration
  • Wastewater characteristics
  • Installation method
  • Voltage and frequency
  • Discharge connection
  • Cooling requirements
  • Hazardous-area classification

Therefore, engineers should select the Zenit UNIQA ZUG-GR Grinder Pump from model-specific hydraulic data. Otherwise, an unsuitable configuration may reduce performance, increase blockage risk or shorten equipment life.
