Product Description

FTI PF Series High-Performance Drum Pumps

The FTI PF Series High-Performance Drum Pumps are sealless drum and barrel pumps designed for efficient container-to-container transfer of acids, bases, solvents and other compatible chemicals.

Their double-suction impeller provides both high flow and strong discharge head. Consequently, users can empty containers efficiently while overcoming longer hoses, elevation changes and system resistance.

PF Series Sealless Drum Pump Design

The sealless construction eliminates the conventional mechanical shaft seal. Therefore, there are no seal faces requiring routine replacement during normal operation.

Moreover, fewer sealing components can simplify maintenance and improve reliability when transferring compatible corrosive liquids. Finish Thompson also uses a heavy-duty threaded pump foot to improve durability around the pump inlet.

Key Features

The Finish Thompson PF pump range offers:

  • Double-suction impeller
  • Maximum electric-motor flow up to 151 lpm
  • Maximum electric-motor head up to 24 m
  • Maximum air-motor flow up to 83 lpm
  • Maximum air-motor head up to 11.6 m
  • Maximum specific gravity of 1.8
  • Maximum viscosity up to 2,000 cP with suitable electric motors
  • Maximum viscosity up to 330 cP with air motors
  • 51 mm pump-tube diameter
  • 25.4 mm discharge connection
  • Polypropylene, PVDF and 316 stainless-steel options
  • Interchangeable electric and pneumatic motors
  • FDA-compliant and ATEX options on selected models
  • Several tube lengths for different containers

Together, these features make the FTI PF Series High-Performance Drum Pumps suitable for varied chemical-transfer duties in industrial facilities.

Double-Suction Impeller Performance

A double-suction impeller draws liquid through two inlet paths. As a result, the pump can provide high transfer rates while still producing useful discharge pressure.

With a suitable electric motor, published performance reaches 40 gpm or 151 lpm and 80 ft or 24 m of head. Meanwhile, pneumatic configurations reach up to 22 gpm or 83 lpm and 38 ft or 11.6 m of head.

However, these maximum figures are based on water testing. Therefore, actual flow decreases as liquid viscosity, specific gravity and discharge resistance increase.

PF Drum Pump Material Options

The range includes several model-specific constructions:

  • PFM: Polypropylene tube, 316 stainless-steel shaft and PVDF impeller
  • PFP: Polypropylene tube, Alloy 625 shaft and PVDF impeller
  • PFV: PVDF tube, Alloy 625 shaft and PVDF impeller
  • PFS: 316 stainless-steel tube and shaft with ETFE impeller

Therefore, users can select the Finish Thompson drum pump according to chemical compatibility, operating temperature and regulatory requirements.

PF Series Temperature Capabilities

Operating-temperature limits depend on the selected material:

  • Polypropylene models: Approximately 1.7°C to 71°C
  • PVDF models: Approximately 1.7°C to 49°C
  • PFS stainless-steel model: Approximately -29°C to 100°C
  • PFV 183 cm model: Maximum approximately 46°C

Consequently, users must select the pump according to both chemical compatibility and liquid temperature.

Variable-Orifice Flow Control

PFM, PFP and PFV configurations include a hose-barb discharge with a variable orifice. Therefore, operators can regulate output during filling or transfer.

This feature can be useful when moving liquid into smaller containers. Moreover, controlled discharge may reduce splashing and improve filling accuracy.

Electric and Air Motor Options

The FTI PF Series High-Performance Drum Pumps support ODP, TEFC, explosion-proof and pneumatic motors.

Variable-speed ODP motors operate from approximately 3,500 to 10,000 RPM. Meanwhile, selected TEFC and explosion-proof models reach 12,000 RPM and support viscosities up to 2,000 cP.

Alternatively, M6 and M6X air motors operate with approximately 80–100 psi compressed air. Therefore, users can choose an electrical or non-electrical drive according to the operating environment.

However, hazardous-liquid applications require the correct motor, stainless-steel pump tube, grounding equipment and static-protection arrangement.

PF Series Tube Lengths and Connections

Available pump-tube lengths include:

  • 69 cm
  • 102 cm
  • 122 cm
  • 137 cm
  • 152 cm
  • 183 cm on selected models

The standard tube diameter is 51 mm, while the discharge size is 25.4 mm. Moreover, the PFS stainless-steel model offers hose-barb, male-threaded, female-threaded and Tri-Clamp discharge options.

FTI PF Series Applications in India

The drum-pump range may support applications across India such as:

  • Acids and bases
  • Solvents
  • Water-treatment chemicals
  • Cleaning products
  • Plating solutions
  • Kidney-dialysis solutions
  • DEF and AdBlue
  • Chemical manufacturing
  • Drum and barrel emptying
  • Container-to-container transfer
  • Pharmaceutical support processes
  • General industrial fluid handling

For example, a PVDF pump may suit selected aggressive chemicals. Alternatively, a suitable stainless-steel configuration may support solvents or applications requiring FDA-compliant materials.

Selecting the Correct FTI PF Series Pump

Correct selection depends on:

  • Chemical name and concentration
  • Required flow and discharge head
  • Liquid viscosity and specific gravity
  • Operating temperature
  • Container depth
  • Tube and shaft materials
  • Motor type
  • Electrical supply
  • Hazardous-area classification
  • Discharge connection

Therefore, users should configure the pump around the complete transfer duty. Otherwise, incompatible materials or an undersized motor may reduce performance, reliability and pump life.

Why Choose Finish Thompson PF Drum Pumps?

The PF range combines sealless reliability, high flow and strong discharge head in a portable drum-pump design.

Moreover, multiple construction materials, tube lengths and motor options allow the pump to serve varied chemical-handling requirements. As a result, the range is a practical solution for facilities across India transferring acids, corrosives, solvents and industrial chemicals.
